What to Expect on Your First Sunday

Walking into a new church can feel like a big step, especially if you've never been to church or it's been a while. Here's what a Sunday at Chaffin Church looks like, so nothing catches you off guard.

Getting here

We're at 155 Shrewsbury St in Holden. Park in the parking lot near the front doors. If you need a step-free way in, our handicap-accessible entrance is the side door, and we have accessible restrooms. Try to arrive 5-10 minutes early so you have time to park, grab a coffee and check in your kids without rushing.

When you walk in

Greeters will say hello at the front door. Above the double doors to our worship space, raised letters spell "WELCOME HOME." We mean it. Inside the worship space, stop by our welcome center for coffee and answers to any questions. Let them know it's your first time; we'd love to meet you.

The gathering

Our gathering starts at 10:00 am and wraps up around 11:15 am, so it's about an hour and fifteen minutes. It's contemporary and relaxed. We sing worship songs together, then hear a message from the Bible about what it looks like to follow Jesus in everyday life. You're welcome to sing along, or just listen and take it all in.

What to wear

Whatever you're comfortable in. We don't care how you're dressed.

Who you'll meet

Our church is made up of imperfect people with every kind of story imaginable. Wherever you're at in your faith journey, you'll be welcome here. You won't be met with shame, guilt or condemnation. As Pastor Marty says, "We stand on love. Everything else is just a conversation."

Your Kids Will Love Chaffin Kids

Our kids aren't just the church of tomorrow. They're the church of today. Chaffin Kids teaches children the good news of Jesus with creativity, games and activities.

• Check-in: check your kids in just inside the front door. Each child gets a name tag with a special pickup code, so you know they're safe. On your first Sunday, arriving 5-10 minutes early leaves time for check-in.

• How it works: kids start the gathering with their family. Before the sermon, they head to their classrooms with their teachers for games and activities that build on the day's lesson. They come back to you during the final worship song, so your family leaves the gathering together.

• Ages: programs for grades K-5 and middle school. Babies and preschoolers are welcome in our nursery and toddler room from the start of the gathering, if you'd like.

• Safety: every Chaffin Kids team member has a background check.

• What they learn: we use the 252 Basics curriculum.
